Hola

Hola! I hope all of my Missouri friends aren't melting from the crazy heat we have had. I looked at my indoor/outdoor digital temperature (nerd alert) about 6pm and it said 116 degrees! I think this will make me be on good behavior Hannah because I am afraid of how hot hell could be.. My priest made a kind of joke about this last weekend and he scared the devils out of me.. It is miserable to be outside.. More to follow on this later about our crazy AC. Anywho, I really had no concrete topics to blog about so I'm going to blog about my life. I promise I won't be the girl who blogs about every minute of her life. I won't be blogging about my grocery store trips unless they are relevant or funny. I told myself that I needed to make an attempt to think of some stuff to blog about today and here is the list I came up with. I included a photo so you can see I did do some major brainstorming all day today.. I hope you enjoy my post today!

First and foremost, I must tell you about the ordeal I had yesterday and Sunday with our air conditioning. The weather (no whether that drives me nuts!) here has been at least 100 degrees for basically the whole summer. We haven't had hardly any rain at all. Our governor declared Missouri a state of emergency this week and this wasn't a day too soon. It should also be noted that I am a complete baby about weather. I hate hot, I hate cold, I hate snow. Just my luck, on Sunday afternoon my air conditioning went out. It was still running (costing my money.. grr) but only blowing warm air. Now I am mechanically challenged but I think it was because someone was frozen or something in the big machine outside. I have no idea how anything could freeze as it is basically hell out there but whatever... I wasn't 100% sure if it was completely broken until I woke up on Monday morning sweating to death and it was 80+ degrees in my house. The only good thing about Monday morning was that hopefully I lost a few lbs in the process. I put Curt in charge of calling our landlord (one of the few times I am glad I rent.. pass that bill off to them.. Too bad I couldn't pass off the $100+ electric bill we had to them bc of their sucky ac unit....) and come out and fix it. They called him and he did some rocket science machine work before they came out and I was assured they fixed the problem.. WRONG! When I came home on 4:30 pm after work it was hotter than when I left for work! I have a rule in my life that I don't be mean/rude/hostile to people on the phone.. I shattered that rule on Monday afternoon when my landlord man/worker told me to sleep it off through the night and if it is still warm in he morning to call him back. I politely (you may want to insert a meaner word here but for the sake of my reputation, I will say politely) reminded him that I pay him rent and a reasonable person expects air conditioning on a 100+ summer day. I then informed him that I would gladly get the nicest hotel in town and charge it to his business along with not paying rent for the days lost here.. Let's just say my file is probably now flagged (sorry Jesus) but I did get the fixer man here and now I am sitting in my house with air conditioning. I will have to give a special thanks to my friend Phil for letting us use his apartment that evening to watch the Cardinals lose but stay cool. Random fact before I end my air conditioning story, Willis Carrier invented air conditioning in 1911 and it wasn't a day too soon. Okay, let's check a/c off of my list...

The Vow.. Curt was gone on Saturday night on a bachelor party which consisted of catching a 38lb catfish. I would upload a photo but I refuse to be that girl that shows off her man and frankly, I don't want a photo of a fish on my blog.. I decided to add some romance in my life since he was gone so naturally I rented a chick flick and Saturday night it was The Vow.. I ALMOST feel sorry for guys because us girls watch these movies and expect it to be real life.. We forget that these movies are fiction and not non-fiction. Now I know The Vow is based on a true story but my friend, Ericka, read the book and has informed me the movie is nothing like the movie.. The Notebook is also a movie that I want to tell women is fiction. Cut your man a break if he doesn't act like Noah from The Notebook. You will be happier if you know that if you really want romance or flowers, just buy it yourself or make sure your man is in communication with your best friend (hint, hint Kristin my anniversary is coming up soon...).. I enjoyed my girl night by myself on Saturday night with my chick flick. I enjoyed the movie a lot actually and I didn't hate the ending so that is a plus. All I really have to say about the movie is that if I woke up and I had a new husband who was sweet, romantic, beautiful, ripped, slightly artistic, a little funny dressed (you can easily change this as we have the power in the relationship) husband named Channing Tatum I so wouldn't question it memory loss or not.. I ripped this from my Facebook status so sorry if you are my friend and see this twice. If you aren't my friend then I'm glad you got to see my witty status. The Vow is now being crossed off my list..

The diner.. We have a really cool diner in Columbia called the 63 Diner. It is like a 50's themed diner where the waitresses wear poodle skirts and the whole place is decked out in retro items. My friend, Kristin, and I found this place and college and now we are addicts. The milkshakes are to die for and the special is always affordable and they give you tons of food. I went there with a co-worker and her family on Friday evening and I thought I would make everyone in the area aware of the terrific food and atmosphere. Try it out if you are in Columbia and I guarantee you that you will love it.. Cross off another item on my list..

Meltdown.. See Air conditioning.. I had several of these but they were all related to being hot.. Meltdowns where you are hot and/or hunger should not be counted towards your heaven points.. Next!!

House.. Curt and I are in the market to buy a house next spring. I had addicted to my realtor app on my phone.. It is such an awesome tool to have when buying a house plus if you are nosey, then you should try it too. You can see all the homes for sale next to you and all the photos of the inside.. Anway, we have had so many discussions on what we want in a house so here is our list so far. Hannah- Master bathroom with two sinks preferred. We have this now and honestly I couldn't/wouldn't buy a house without this unless it was perfect in every other aspect.. At least a 2 car garage.. I have never in my life had a garage until now but it is a luxury I don't want to go without.. See above about hating weather.. We have a one car garage now and props to Curt for letting me park in it while he parks outside. 3 bedroom at least.. Two bedrooms is out of the question if we want to have kiddos.. Curt- Basement.. I work in insurance so I see a lot of basement claims so I am a little leery about them so any input would be helpful. Yard.. He wants a large yard but we will see what we can get in our area.. Location and price are also a big, if not most important, factor in buying a home. We love our location now (south Columbia.. you creepers better not stalk me) so we want to stay close because of work and schools. We are willing to move to Ashland but it must be a perfect home.. Please let me know ANY advice you have in this process. If you are in Columbia, don't steal my future home or I will find you.... Next!!!

Mexico!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm going to Mexico in September and I can't wait.. Curt and I are going with our friends Michael and Kristin.. At first we didn't ask anyone to go with us because we didn't want to pressure people or assume about any one's financial stability but I am so glad we mentioned going to Mexico one day at a softball game where they are on the team.. They were interested and booked! I recommend to everyone who wants to travel to use a travel agent. Ours is amazing! They save you so much money because of their deals and help you along the process so much. Also, they have been most places so they have first hand experience. You will be hearing more about my trip later I am sure.. This trip has been keeping my sane for awhile.. I switched departments at my work so I went from comfortable to challenging because I am not familiar with my work. It has been an adjustment so I am looking forward for sure for a week of vacation.. Now this being said, I am very grateful to have a job and love my job so don't get the wrong vibe here. I hate when people complain about their jobs and don't see how lucky they are. I graduated college in 2010 right the midst of the economy collapse so I know how hard it is to get a job. I know so many people who couldn't get a job. I think employers should take their employees on field trips to the unemployment line every so often to keep people in check.. Whoa, major detour here!

Books.. This is to remind to me to tell you the library story.. I will only share this with you because I am an open book and I was told I had no choice but to blog this story. I was tutoring last Tuesday at the public library and afterwards I went to go check out some books. I must tell you that I have been on a reading spree as I read 5 books in a week a couple of weeks ago.. 5 books with 350+ pages a book. Go Hannah! Anywho, I was looking for a specific author so I was reading the alphabet chart at the end of the book rows and finally find my author in the o's.. I started down the aisle not looking to see if it was empty (I assumed it was...) to get my book.. I kind of bent down a bit because my book was on the second row and realized that I needed to fart.. Since no one was around I decided I was good to go so I relieved myself... However, it was very loud.. Like undeniable loud.. As soon as I was done loudly farting I realized that a little libraian sweater vested dude was sitting directly in my farts line of direction shelving books.. I noticed him because he started moving obviously knowing he just got farted on.. At this point I had to come up with a plan of action and mine was not to act like anything happened.. This poor sweater vested dude not only was he wearing a sweater vest with long sleeves in 100 degree weather and having to shelve books, he got farted all over by a stranger! He jumped up and scattered away probably mortified at his life.. I am sorry Jesus again for this whole scene.. I need to act better because hell is way to hot for ducks...

Paper towels/bathroom.. I wrote this after I was annoyed at work when people don't put their used wet paper towels in the whole cut out for trash instead only get it 1/4 in the hole and it lays on the counter.. I was obviously grouchy at this...

Library, see above story about books/farting..

I hope you enjoyed my post.. Hopefully it wasn't too much random junk bunched into one post.. I'll get to thinking of some good topics for my future posts.. My one year wedding anniversary is next Monday (July 30th) so I am sure I will have a future post on what a year of marriage can do to a girl! Thanks for reading!

Notes

I was doing what every 24 year old is doing on their Friday night, creeping on Facebook, and came across some old but hilarious notes I did over the years. I remember being in Junior High and filling out the silly forwards my girlfriends would send my in my email. I remember being all weird about the questions regarding boys.. I think it would be a fun blog post if I took the answers from back in the day and compared them to present day. Hopefully I can look at this post a couple years from now and get the same enjoyment I did today. Enjoy!

Books

Holy cow blog I have totally neglected you lately.. I must apologize for my bad behavior.. I have been cheating on you with Christian Grey..  Okay before I get into all the good stuff about Christian Grey I must take a step back.. I love, love, love to read. I don't understand how people can tell me that they just don't enjoy books. I am a firm believer that there are not many things better than a good book. I find myself wrapped up in a book until I have read every single page. I must say that I live and die through book characters. I get so, so sad when a really I have completed a really good book. It is like the characters have become my new best friends and I imagine myself as the main character. Sometimes I find myself having dreams of the characters.. I pretty much become obsessed.. Anyway, hope you enjoy my blog post today on my latest read plus some of my past reads that can't be forgotten. Enjoy!!

Unless you have been living under a rock, you have heard of the book Fifty Shades of Grey. This is how it usually goes for me.. I will hear the hype about a book and then I will resist it for awhile but I will always give in a read the book.. I have to admit, more times than not the book is usually really good! I had heard that Fifty Shades of Grey was basically like reading 400 pages of porn.. I debated for awhile asking myself do I really want to be known as that girl who is reading the naughty books? Luckily I have a Nook and I don't even have to go to a store to buy a book so no one would have to know what my eyes were wondering on.. So I started the book and boy people were right on the erotic writing. I felt a little weird hearing adults admitting they were enjoying the same book I was reading. I just tried to block that out of my mind while I was reading about naughties. I kept wondering if I was really adult enough to read this and trust me, by no means am I a pure little angel. I mean, I'm not a promiscious girl but I don't live in a box. So as I was feeling a little awkward by the book I decided that I actually really enjoyed it. It took me a little bit to admit this but it was true. I did have to giggle sometimes when I was reading a very graphic paragraph knowing the people around me had no idea what I was reading.. When I felt like being a silly duck, I would read Curt passages out of the book. I think he was happy for the book to be finished so he didn't have to hear the naughty parts but a little sad because he now doesn't get to play his video games as much as he did for the 8 days I was reading the books.

Fifty Shades of Grey is a typical romance novel though with just more graphic parts. It makes us women hate our husbands because they aren't as sweet as the fictional characters in the books. Romance novels are like the movie The Notebook, they are both fiction but all women believe men should act like this in their everyday life.. I am pretty sure if Curt started talking all sweet to me I would be weirded out or jump to an irrational conclusion of him cheating on me.. It is suprising that men haven't evolved into liking men lol. I would definitely recommend reading Fifty Shades of Grey though. It is a bit of a kick labido which is good for us ladies! Plus, you can talk to all of your girlfriends about what they are secretely reading in their beds before bedtime!

I did a complete 180 turn and borrowed 2 books from the library by Jodi Picoult. I had read a book by her before called The Pact. It was a really good read but a little sad. It was about a teenage boy being on trial for helping his girlfriend commit suicide. It was a really interesting read and I couldn't put it down. I decided to try her again with the book Vanishing Act. It was about a girl who was kidnapped by her father when she was 4 and now her father is on trial for her kidnapping 24 years after she was kidnapped. She has lived with him her whole life without knowing and her father was a really good father to her. It was interesting read also. It didn't end how I wanted but they all can't be perfect I guess. I am reading the book 19 Minutes by her now. I must say I am 102 pages into it and it is a little bit of a slow read. It is about a school shooting a very serious subject. I will keep you updated on how it is going because I will do a better job of blogging now that I have a life again after finishing my Fifty Shades of Grey series.

The Hunger Games, Twilight and Harry Potter are all series I have read. I really tried to avoid Harry Potter because a series about wizards sounded dumb to me.. I was really missing out because it may be my favorites series. I am trying to get my husband to read the series so we can talk about it but thus far he has resisted being overly nerdy and hasn't read the series. I did manage to talk him into reading The Hunger Games which he couldn't put down for weeks. Curt always obsesses over the books he reads but will tell you he didn't like it.. I think that may be a man thing.. I didn't bring up the Twilight series to him because I have no chance.. I can't even get him to watch the movies. I'm not a crazy Twilight fan but I must admit, I did enjoy the read.. I was Team Jacob though just to clarify!

I ALWAYS want suggestions on good books to read. I sometimes find myself spending hours reading comments on book in which I am thinking of downloading on my Nook. I always like to hear what my friends are reading. Drop me a comment/message on a suggestion for a new book. Who knows, it may end up as a blog post!! As always, thanks for reading.. Be safe for the 4th and if you are in a state with a drought avoid shooting off fireworks especially if my work insures in your state!
